A tall man with crutches moved through the line. Many of us quickly laid hands on him, his legs. As he got to the end of the line, he was shaking, weeping. He stopped, lifted his crutches off the ground....and walked. He was shocked. We were rejoicing, and something broke in the heavenlies. There was a shout from the whole room. This man had been in a terrible accident that crushed his legs in multiple places. He was told by the doctors that he would never walk again.

Then an elderly man in a wheelchair stood up....there was another shout, the wheelchair tossed into the air.

Suddenly, a woman who had “stalled out” at the head of the line to begin with, appeared walking down the center aisle, with another woman holding her crutches high overhead. We were then told that she had been in an auto accident, breaking both hips in 19 places, and that her femur would not bear any weight. But here she was, walking, peace across her face.   Another shout of praise went up!!

Continuing what has become an added blessing on many Global Awakening trips, once again, our bus driver is led to the Lord by Nancy, one of our team members. While Nancy is the one who led him in prayer, it is Raulino, our Global Brazil Transportation Coordinator, who befriended and ministered to him, as he has done with every bus driver that has been with us on these trips. We surround, embrace and pray for our bus driver, Ivo, who has already been healed of back pain after receiving prayer from us in Niteroi.

We left Niteroi and made a side trip to see the “Jesus Statue,” high atop a mountain that overlooks several beaches and cities nearby. This was our “down time” to relax, but our team members never miss an opportunity to see the power of God at work. Ben describes how a sales clerk had her day changed:

The team went to see the statue of Jesus. Bonnie, a team member and I visited a gift shop and I notice that one of the sales clerks had a Velcro cast on her wrist. She spoke English so I asked her if she knew why we were in Rio. She replied no, so I told her that we were here so that God could use us to heal people and asked her would she like to be healed? She quickly took her cast off. Bonnie prayed for her and she received complete healing. As she moved her fingers and wrist, she kept saying “I can’t believe this!” “I can’t believe this!” She went to work with pain in her wrist, worried that she might have to have surgery and she will go home free of pain because God met her and blessed her in the market.        Testimony of Ben Chilcutt 

We head out to our first meeting later in the evening in this quaint, historic city. Our church is a few blocks away – a short drive along winding stone roads, horse drawn carriages, and many historic statues and buildings. We walk up a steep hill to find a huge tent-like structure that is the church.

Over the next several nights Casa de Davi (with Davi Silva one night) continues to lead us in worship with the same intensity as in Niteroi. From the first night the healings start. The pastor eagerly becomes part of the team where needed, and can be seen either translating, catching or praying. Later he pulls me aside to state:

Your team is not like the others who come and just give a general blessing from the stage over the whole crowd. I see them pray one on one with someone and stay with them and keep asking them until there is no more to pray for.  Pastor Vladimir Soures

 

Then, on the last morning, Mike spoke about angels and heaven, particularly about bringing heaven down to earth. So guess what happened? After leading us into a time of gut-busting laughter and joy we stood in silence and became aware of the presence of angels filling the room. We were destroyed. Weeping, trembling, praying, worshipping bodies – now littering the floor – felt the glorious presence of heaven on earth. It was this atmosphere that brought forth the pastor for a breakthrough moment that touched everyone. We watched as this man humbly spoke from his heart about himself and his church and he ended by saying that we not only brought revival, but healing to his entire church.

The word for the evening is FIRE! Fire is not only in the main church, but also in the other churches where our team (now divided) is ministering. In the main church, Tom Jones led everyone in several simulated acts of pouring gasoline on the newly-lit fire in the church, on themselves and the pastor (that’s simulated okay – imaginary containers – not real gasoline). Again, the atmosphere was open to His presence and healings occurred easily.

In a second church, almost half of the congregation is healed in a few short hours. Read below about how they just kept coming and getting healed so quickly:

I had a word of knowledge for vascular disease.  After explaining to the church what a word of knowledge was, I must have prayed for 50 or 60 people.  Never have I seen God move as quickly as He did that night.  I had two women who had little or no feeling in their lower left leg.  God healed them both in about two minutes.  The second woman with this condition that I prayed for told me she could feel something go and feeling to her left calf was restored. In all, I think we had 81 healings out of a church of about 190 people.  Yeah God again!       Testimony of Bruce Mock

The outstanding healings in our third church are mentioned at the beginning of this report. But that’s not all. Before anybody started walking, our own team member, Debbie, was being healed. The sight in her right eye was restored while Pastor Harold (another team member) was preaching. Because the team could not sit still on this news, Harold was interrupted, preaching was halted and praying started immediately. You know the rest -- crutches and wheelchairs were tossed aside! 

Dick Patterson describes some of the other healings that occurred:

 A man came requesting prayer for panic attacks, and left smiling in tears.   A woman came requesting prayer for stomach pain, and left pain free. Another woman came for prayer for headaches, leaving pain free.  Israela, one of the translators later broke down in sobs, saying she had come to translate just to be around the team one more time, but she had never seen healings like we were experiencing!!  She was overcome by her joy and amazement.

One woman came up to us and told us through the translator that she had a large lump or tumor in her belly. We could see the swollen place. We asked her to lay her hand on it; and then I put my hand on hers and Carl put his hand on mine. We prayed, and spoke the promises of God for healing from the Bible, and then commanded the lump to leave in Jesus' name, while the translator told her what we were saying.   The woman was totally healed while we prayed. The lump disappeared and we could see the difference. We rejoiced and gave thanks to God! Hallelujah!

An elderly woman asked prayer for pain in her right shoulder, chest and legs. She was very closed – from a traditional church – not believing God could (and would) heal her. Worried about her son who was a Mormon missionary and afraid that pain in neck and shoulder might be a serious disease. After much prayer the sadness left, peace came. Unbelief and fear were gradually lessened, then pain left.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1. <!--[endif]-->76 year old woman had arthritis in spine and neck. Sciatic giving pain. Jesus healed one item at a time. She was amazed when all pain was gone.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->4. <!--[endif]-->A 23 year old man had a swollen jaw on the left side. He couldn’t open his mouth wide or move his jaw sideways. After prayer he began to move his jaw as if chewing gum. Very happy for his healing, his swelling disappeared.
